Brighter Smiles Centre
Privacy Policy
Last updated September 2026
Brighter Smiles Centre, with Dr Marie Tadic (“the practice”, “I”, “me”), collects and handles personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. This policy explains what I collect, why, and how it is looked after.
What I collect
- Contact details: your name, phone number, address and email.
- Health information needed to treat you safely: your dental and medical history, medications, allergies, X-rays and clinical notes.
- If you text me a photo of the problem, that photo is kept with your clinical record.
- Medicare, health fund or concession details where you ask me to claim on your behalf.
Why I collect it
- To assess, treat and follow up your dental care.
- To contact you about appointments, results and ongoing care.
- To process payments and claims (for example Medicare CDBS or your health fund).
- To meet legal and professional record-keeping obligations.
Who it may be shared with
- Other health practitioners involved in your care, for example a specialist I refer you to or your GP, with your consent or where required for your treatment.
- Medicare, your health fund, or a pathology or radiology provider, when needed to process a claim or a test.
- No one else, unless the law requires it or you ask me to.
- I do not sell personal information and do not use it for marketing without your consent.
How it is stored
- Records are kept securely in the practice’s clinical software and retained for as long as the law requires.
- Reasonable steps are taken to protect your information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access or disclosure.
This website
- This website uses call and text links and does not run analytics scripts. Online booking opens our separate booking service, where your details are sent to the practice to arrange your care. The hosting provider may process technical request data such as your IP address.
- Calling or texting uses your phone provider and the practice’s communications services. Please send only information needed to arrange your care. The practice can explain how to share sensitive documents securely.
Access, correction and complaints
- You can ask to see or correct the information I hold about you at any time. Call the practice on the number on this site.
- If you have a concern about how your information has been handled, please raise it with me first. If you’re not satisfied with the response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
